Challenges & Creative Problem Solving
Taking on the task of producing a live radio show came with its fair share of creative challenges, as each episode of That’s So Last Year! focuses on one specific year from pop culture's past, research was quite the difficult task. Each week, upwards of eight hours were spent collecting quotes, watching interviews, reviewing content, developing timelines and staying up to date on the latest trends in popular culture. An additional challenge was the structuring and organization of this research, delegating and dividing segments was oftentimes difficult due to the amount of content we had to cover in a 50 minute show slot. In order to creatively problem solve, organized breakdowns of each segment were created, which entailed a detailed outline of the segment from start to finish in order to accommodate the timing, live on the air.
